DESIGNER CONTRACTS ANNOUNCES NEW SUMMER LINE-UP

Designer Contracts has announced six new appointments in a ‘summer shuffle’ of new joins and promotions.

Stepping up the ladder are Jake Sambrooks, Paul Western and Craig Wilson who have been promoted to Central operations manager, East Anglia project manager and Yorkshire operations manager respectively. Jake, who joined the company seven years ago has worked across a number of roles, most recently as a senior planner. A keen golfer and family man, he previously worked with other companies – including Currys/PC World – before joining Designer Contracts.

Paul Western joined the business as a planner last October and was promoted to project manager earlier this year. He started fitting floors for the family business in the school holidays aged just 14, went full time as a trainee two years later and eventually managed the company for a period. After moving two years ago from Devon to Norwich to be closer to his family, Paul says he is now looking forward to working with the East Anglia team to help grow the region.

Craig started out at Tesco, went on to CarpetRight and joined Designer Contracts in 2018, just as the Yorkshire office was opening. Keen to develop his career with the business he worked in both the Leeds-based office and Central Region until January 2022 when he moved back to Yorkshire. There he was promoted to a senior admin role before his latest appointment as operations manager.

New boys on the block are Michael Hiscocks who has been appointed Wales and West operations manager; Wayne Bladon as Western and Southern counties sales manager; and Terry Lee as East Anglia sales manager.

Said Designer Contracts commercial director Louise Walters: “We’re delighted to welcome so many experienced and talented new people on to the team to further take the business forward. And we’re always pleased to recognise the strengths and skills of existing staff with promotions which benefit both the business and their own professional development.”

Michael, who describes himself as a “proud father of two” joined the company after 17 years in the optical sector where he started in manufacturing and progressed to training, management, regional management and business development roles.

Wayne joins the company with more than 40 years of experience in retail. He worked as an area manager for a food company and later became general manager of a flag ship B&Q store and other retail outlets. He lives in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

Terry worked as a sales manager in the motor trade for more than 20 years and as a self-employed flooring specialist for seven years. Father to a “football mad 11-year-old son” he has also been a drummer with a local band for over 30 years.
